It was the last show of the season and the old principal actor was getting ready to perform the final scene in which he would play his character's death from a heart attack.
In an odd way he was always aware that he had control of his body to the point that he could die for real. He remembered that time when he delivered that angry scene that had sent him to the hospital by ambulance feeling something like a cattle iron sear his liver from spilling so much bile.
He was indeed that type of virtuoso. And knowing he had reached his summit, tonight seemed as good as it gets to take his final bows.
Clutching his chest he stumbled on to center stage, a spotlight shined on his face right on cue, (man that tech was good, he nailed it), and the agony of his passing was exposed with all bulging veins and the rictus as his breathing stopped. He plummeted to the ground landing on his knees, and collapsed on his face devoid of any further motion.
The audience froze for a couple of beats and exploded in a standing and howling ovation with tears in their eyes. They had been witnesses to a performance that exceeded any expectation.
Once dead, he decided to linger around just long enough for the reviews of the play to appear on the media.
Most of them agreed in stating that the unheard of realism inthe final scene was due to the coincidence of his actual death as he performed of the death scene, He fumed. Even dying to nail it didn't suffice in their opinions. There was an idiot that topped them all who rated his death scene as overacting. At least he felt the consolation of that one attracting the boos from everyone.
He now felt so much lighter unembodied. So he walked away into infinitude feeling a charge of energy never experienced before.

PSICONEUROSIS.
----No doctor.
ENGLISH VERSION.
The eminent psychiatrist listened to his regular patient, a matador star of the bullfight season. The intent of these sessions was to keep him tuned up mentally for an unstoppable series of triumphal afternoons the man had been enjoying at the bullrings.
In spite of having precisely a roaring success the previous day, in which the aficionados carried him on shoulders and paraded him through the plaza's large door and if that were not enough amidst the aroused sceams of women who caused a storm of panties they flung at him. Yes in spite of that he found something to bitch about most bitterly.
To really understand what took place could be only described as the most serious and fascinating dance with death ever performed, leaving an indelible imprint of glory in the eyes of the audience and the cameras. That day to never be forgotten as a moment of supreme genius and courage. He was now inmortal in history.
On the first bull the deafening cry of the oles went non stop. When he pointed the sword for the kill awaiting the one ton animal to charge at him, the bull seemed to make a slight misstep in his furious advance that caused the sword to hit bone and thus not glide through the flesh for the clean kill he had foreseen. This made the man so furious he fiercily bit his inner lip causing it to bleed.
Now the shrink patiently took in his monotone complaint that endlessly voiced, amidst the rage of fire coming from his eyes.
-----I failed with the sword, I failed with the sword. My best afternoon was ruined----
---Forget it matador. Everyone saw the bull's weird sudden sidestep. They all agree you are the greatest ever.---
----You don't understand me doctor, I'm aware of the issue with the bull. But it was later at the hotel where I failed with the sword with Mariana.---

CASUAL ©Carlos de la Parra.( Spanish and english version, clic down to read.)
ENGLISH VERSION.
He would roll along with the dice any way they came. The ultimate mister adaptable. Not her though, She was sick and tired of his last minute sales that would rescue them from total indigence.
He had been selling whatever came his way for the past ten years, and was trapped into a roller coaster economy where he would slowly climb to see some positive results and soon he was on a downfall run juggling debt and bussiness. You could run into him anywhere peddling some trinket, sunshades, perfumes, watches, whatever. There were times when he would score running the sale of some land or a good piece of jewelry for someone who either lacked the time or did not want to appear needy.
And that way he managed to stay a step away from total disaster.
But now bigger conmen who managed the world's economy had brought about the current crisis and he was working longer hours to get less successful transactions.
On one of such nights he arrived home and asked his wife if she wanted to dine out. When he told her all he could afford was the neighborhood's diner, she passed. He went by himself to spare the drama.
As he was walking to the corner a nice large executive car stopped . He made sure to take a quick glance to see that it was not one of his customers he owed money to, but to his relief these were four well dressed japanese gentlemen. He knew one of the unwritten rules in sales is don't waste your time trying to sell anything to an asian in the street, they never buy from strangers.
At first he thought they were lost because all of them spoke at the same time, but he soon knew different when they grabbed him, put a bag over his head and pulled him into the car before he could say teriyaki which was almost the extent of his fluency in japanese. As they sped away he regretted not studying languages like he once planned in his youth, but by now he had lost count of all the stuff he never did.
Life had trapped him like when you run the rapids in a raft, all you can do is hang on and stay balanced.
For a moment he thought they had confused him with a wealthy person, but when he saw that they didn't frisk him for his wallet his mind leaped beyond into paranoia mode thinking he was being shanghaied so they could sell his body organs as spare parts for surgeries. Since the language barrier was not letting him establish communication he faked a convulsion but all he got was one big laugh from them.
After that everything turned surreal. A private jet flew them to Tokyo. He began to feel relieved when it started becoming clear that he was part of some humorous japanese contest type show. Something with a title akin to "From hell to heaven", as one of the staff members explained to him through a pocket translation machine. The feeling of relief when the threat was suppressed in his mind was so intense that he started winning every contest. At the end of the show he wolfed down the best dinner of his life prepared by one of the local top chefs. But the summit of his fifteen minutes of fame came when he was cheered by a massive audience as he received a package of cash amounting to three million yen.
When he got back to home sweet home, his wife was speechless at seeing him enter dressed as a samurai warrior and unpack great presents for her and the children and heard him request ---Please call the bank honey, to check today's rate on yens.---
